April is Alcohol Awareness Month. Alcohol is the most misused substance in Connecticut and the country.
On April 20th at Saxe Middle School Auditorium, New Canaan CARES, Silver Hill Hospital, Human Services, and RAM COUNCIL present Teaching Kids About Alcohol with Dr. Robert Turrisi, a professor at Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Turrisi will use his research and recent study data to address three major questions: what should we teach our kids, when to teach them, and why? He will also provide practical tips for implementing best practices in everyday situations. Dr. Turrisi will explain why talking to your kids is the most effective strategy to delay drinking. His Parent Handbook, Talking with Students About Alcohol, will be given to each attendee, which the Surgeon General’s Report has vetted.
